Type Specimen for the 1968 American Type Founders font, OCR A. The posters play with the idea of machines as gods, "deus ex machina." The original concept combined an optical character recognition font with the aesthetics of medieval illuminated manuscripts, which then developed into creating apocalyptic / technical illuminated manuscripts
I modified decorative elements from illuminated manuscripts and combined them with OCR A letters using Photoshop and Illustrator
I really enjoyed the idea of a modern, computer focused font placed in a handmade, medieval manuscript. The contrast of the two was my main interest with my type specimen.
